the pier

The Eastbourne Pier was built during 1866 - 1872 and designed by Eugenius Birch at a cost of £13,400 and the first section was opened by Lord Edward Cavendish in June 1870.

Visiting the Pier is always a thrilling adventure,
and something to look forward to!

This is how the Pier looked in 1930. Notice the Boniface
Pleasure Boats at the shore!

This is a quaint view of the Pier from many years ago,
even before the advent of the automobile. How lovely
the Carpet Gardens looked, too!
